Engineering Accreditation

Why is it important for a program to be accredited?

Accreditation assures that our undergraduate programs meet quality and safety standards that prepare our graduates to enter a global job market.

The standards are defined by our peers in the engineering field ― more than 2,200 experts in industry, academia and government.

Accreditation is voluntary. We are committed to undergoing the rigorous review every 6 years. Employers value graduates of accredited programs and know that our students have the skills and knowledge that come from a quality curriculum.

Graduation from an ABET-accredited program is required for any engineer that wishes to obtain licensure as a professional engineer (PE). Because of this, many companies will not hire graduates from programs that are not accredited.
