Deborah Machalow joined the University of Toledo College of Law in August 2023 as an assistant professor of law.  She teaches civil procedure.  Her scholarship focuses on reproductive rights/justice and women and the law.

Prior to joining Toledo Law, Machalow was a litigator. Most recently, she served as an associate at Godfrey and Kahn, S.C.  Before that, she served as a law clerk in the Western District of Wisconsin to the Honorable William M. Conley and as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP. Machalow is admitted to practice in New York and Wisconsin. She currently sits on the New York State Bar Association’s Committee for Attorney Well-Being.

Machalow received her B.A. in Political Science and Economics (with minors in History and English) summa cum laude from Stony Brook University and her J.D. summa cum laude (and order of the coif) from Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
