Shelby Cully

Lecturer in Law

Shelby Cully is Chief Counsel for Lucas County Children Services.  In this role she assists the agency in its mission to lead the community in the protection of children.  Cully also serves on multiple committees for the Public Children Services Association of Ohio including serving as chair for the Rules committee and member of the legislative committee.  Serving in these roles has allowed Cully to influence current practice in child welfare.  Previously, Cully held various roles in juvenile law including staff attorney for Lucas County Children Services, attorney for parents and children in dependency, neglect and abuse cases, attorney for children in delinquency matters and guardian ad litem.  One of Cully's favorite roles in juvenile law was that of mediator, especially for child welfare mediations.     

Cully graduated with her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 2002 and her Juris Doctorate in 2005 both from the University of Toledo.  Cully currently teaches juvenile law at the University of Toledo.  She has also developed trainings in the area of conflict resolution, case worker testimony, case planning, secondary trauma and resiliency in case work.
