Reem Subei Reem Subei is a senior attorney with the Housing and Economic Development practice group at Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE) in Toledo. ABLE is a public interest law firm that provides legal assistance to people and groups who are limited-income to help them self-reliance, equal justice, and economic opportunity. Subei's practice includes legislative advocacy, nonprofit governance, eviction defense, housing access, jail conditions, equity in education, and neighborhood wealth preservation. She has filed and defended cases in federal and state courts including the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit as well as administrative complaints before federal and state agencies. She leads major advocacy efforts to build community power through people-led movements.

Subei serves on the board of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) in Ohio, where she coordinates legal defense and legal observers for protestors. She is a steering committee member of the Welcome Toledo-Lucas County (Welcome TLC) and a co-founder of the Coalition for Inclusion and Social Justice in Perrysburg, Ohio. Subei is a graduate of The University of Toledo College of Law and has earned an international law certificate with her J.D. She is also a licensed mediator through the Ohio Supreme Court. She previously taught undergraduate courses at The University of Toledo.
