Lake Erie Center Photo Contest Rules

This contest focuses on the natural systems, plant, and animal life of Maumee Bay, Lake Erie, and the Maumee River watershed. Location of entry photographs must be from Maumee Bay, Lake Erie or the Maumee River watershed to qualify. If it is determined that the location of the entry photo is outside of these areas the photo will be disqualified.

Winning entries will be enlarged, printed on quality paper, professionally framed or mounted, and will be displayed in the Lake Erie Center lobby/gallery and on our website. Photos must have been taken between November 4, 2019, and December 6, 2020, to be eligible.  All entries must be submitted as digital prints in JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), GIF (.gif), or PNG (.png) formats (require the digital image, no linked photos e.g. "Dropbox" etc. will be accepted), and should be of sufficient resolution to be enlarged and printed using common computer software and printers.

Amateur photographers only. If you sell photos or professional photography services you are ineligible to enter this contest. Minimal digital manipulation (i.e. contrast, sharpening, etc) is permitted, but no digitally signed or watermarked photos will be accepted. Up to three (3) photos will be accepted from each entrant. Photos become the property of the Lake Erie Center and will not be returned. Entrant’s name on the entry form or submission of photos using online entry form constitutes consent to use the photo by the Lake Erie Center and may be placed on the World Wide Web and/or on printed materials such as brochures, etc. All human subjects must have approved the submission.

The Lake Erie Center reserves the right to disqualify entries or cancel this contest without notice.

There will be four (3) entry categories based upon age. The first category is open to amateur photographers twelve (12) years of age or younger;  a second category for teen entrants aged thirteen (13) to eighteen (18) ; and a third category is for all adults nineteen and older (19+) years of age as of the contest’s deadline, December 6, 2020.  All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. on December 6, 2020.  Entries must be electronically uploaded using online entry form.

Judge’s decisions will be final.  The contest winners will be informed via telephone or email, and awards presented at the Lake Erie Center.
