20th Anniversary Virtual Celebration

Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020
7 p.m.

In the late 90s, two professors at The University of Toledo joined forces to lay the foundation for an innovative new major. Adjunct professor of political science, Dr. William D. Rose, and visiting professor of philosophy, Dr. Ben Pryor, took inspiration from nationally recognized programs of undergraduate study in law and society, then drew on the unique strengths and opportunities at the University to create a degree unlike any other. Their efforts established the Program in Law and Social Thought (LST).

From its first class in 2000 to its 20th class in 2020, LST has exemplified engaged scholarship and instruction rooted in a rich humanistic and social scientific tradition. Today, LST co-directors Drs. Renee Heberle and Jerry Van Hoy carry on the vision of the program's founders. LST's faculty promote sustained reflection on core values that shape the requirements of citizenship in contemporary democracy.

LST invites its current and former students to celebrate this milestone of twenty years of interdisciplinary innovation and progress.
