About the Competition
The Barbara Rondelli Perry Competition for Superior Achievement for Superior Achievement in Classical Voice Performance is limited to graduate and undergraduate students who are majors or minors in the Classical Voice program of the University of Toledo. All music to be sung must be memorized. The competition will proceed with live piano accompaniment. Contestants must be prepared in the areas of opera, oratorio, art song in a foreign language and English, and must sing one selection from each of the four categories. Three languages must be presented.
The scholarship awards are $1,500 for 1st prize, $750 for second, and $500 for third. The judges, based on their professional
evaluations of the competitors’ performances, may award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places to the contestants, or any numb4r less than the three places, or, in a highly
unusual competition, declare that none of the competitors have measured up to the
high standards expected.
