Sara Lee, a marketing major with a minor in professional sales, is set to graduate in May 2024. Her journey, marked by her commitment to community service, recently culminated in receiving one of three $1,000 scholarships at the Second Annual Doing Right Spotlight. Sara received her scholarship from 2023 Doing Right Spotlight honoree Kripke Enterprises. This honor not only highlights her academic achievements but also her deep-rooted dedication to making a meaningful impact on society.
Throughout her high school years, Sara embarked on a mission to enrich the lives of elderly residents in her community. Her initial plan to organize live performances at nursing homes was hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Determined to come up with a solution that fit with the current time, Sara compiled videos from musicians across the country, bringing joy and solace to the elderly during holidays. This initiative, which amassed over 1,700 volunteer hours, exemplifies Sara's ability to adapt and persevere in the face of adversity.
Sara's motivation stems from a childhood filled with volunteering at local nursing homes, where she witnessed the profound emotional impact of music on the residents. These experiences, coupled with her involvement in a Music Therapy Camp for children experiencing trauma, solidified her belief in the power of community service and the arts as a force for good.
Her efforts in organizing a fundraiser concert and a GoFundMe campaign, which raised over $1,000 for musical instruments for the campers, further attest to her leadership and compassion.
Sara aspires to leverage her experiences and insights to build a makeup company focused on skincare, aiming to inspire and empower individuals to embrace their authentic selves. Her vision extends beyond the realm of business; she is determined to continue her engagement in music and volunteerism, exploring new avenues to contribute to her community.
