Admission Requirements & Application Procedures

Application for our 4th cohort, Cycle D (Classes begin Spring 2023)

 

Application Requirements

Early Childhood or Special Education Scholars

1) Must be currently licensed to teach either Early Childhood education (PreK through Grade 3) OR K-12 Special Education.  (**The 5-year Professional PreK License does qualify)
2) Minimum undergraduate GPA 2.7
3) Applicants will be evaluated on the following:

    • Professional experience, licensure or certification status
    • Applicants must be interested in maintaining a career in Early Childhood Special Education
    • Quality of academic record
    • Confidence/comfort level taking online courses.
       

Related Services Scholars

1. Must be enrolled and in good academic standing in one of the following UToledo graduate professional programs:

    • Occupational Therapy
    • Physical Therapy
    • School Psychology
    • Speech-Language
       
2. Applicants will be evaluated on the following:
    • Statement of purpose in seeking the Graduate Certificate for Teaming in Early Childhood
    • Applicants must be interested in maintaining a career in Early Childhood Education settings (Early Intervention and Special Education)
    • Quality of academic record
    • Confidence/comfort level taking online courses

Application Procedure

If you meet the mandatory requirements listed above, please submit the following application materials to the Project Prepare Director, Laurie Dinnebeil:  

  1. Application
  • Preschool Special Needs Scholars (DUE SEPTEMBER 15, 2022) apply HERE
  • Related Services Scholars (DUE AUGUST 9, 2022 for SLP students and DECEMBER 3, 2022 for OT, PT & SPSY students) apply HERE

2. 3 letters of recommendation (professional, not personal letters of support from people who are familiar with your work as a teacher such as a fellow teacher or an administrator as well as a faculty member)

3. A statement of purpose (Describes your background and your interest in participating in Project Prepare.  Please indicate any experiences that you have had taking online courses or participating in distance learning experiences)

4. Copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts (If any).  If degree was awarded, transcripts must state that the degree was awarded.  (Note:  Transcripts can be unofficial for now but if admitted to the program, official transcripts will be required.) 

5. For Related Service scholar applicants:  a statement of academic standing from the student's graduate advisor or program director. 


 

* Admission decisions will be made by November 1st for Preschool Special Needs scholars and December 6th for Related Services scholars.
