MIME Alumni Network of Experts & Scholars (MEANS)

The Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering Alumni Network of Experts and Scholars (MEANS) is an honorary society open to qualified graduates and friends of the MIME department at the University of Toledo. MEANS' purpose is to formally recognize alumni and honorary members who have demonstrated extraordinary achievements in their careers. MEANS will also promote greater interaction among alumni, faculty, and students.

Nominations

Criteria

Candidates must:

  • Demonstrate extraordinary accomplishments and/or stature in professional career, and
  • Must be a living alumnus, alumna or friend.

Ideal candidates would also demonstrate as many of possible of the following:

  • Exemplary ethical and moral standards;
  • Longevity, consistency, and quality of professional contributions, accomplishments and accolades/honors;
  • Service to Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or a related profession through professional organizations, speaking engagements and other avenues;
  • Record of assistance, especially in leadership positions, to community and service;
  • Record of involvement with and service to UToledo, especially within the MIME Department;
  • Record of Philanthropy; and/or
  • Outreach to under-represented populations.

Process

  • Complete the Online nomination form, and include
    • a letter of nomination to detail the accomplishments of the nominee and
    • a copy of the nominee's resume or CV.
  • Nominations will be reviewed by the selection committee annually in the Fall semester and will remain active for two review cycles.
  • Department Head will send a letter to selected candidates informing them they are being considered for the induction.
  • Inductees and current members will be invited to the annual MIME dinner that coincides with the Ted Keith Distinguished Lecture of the year.

Timeline

Nominations can be made at anytime, but any nominations submitted after September 1 will be reviewed in the following nomination cycle.
