Mechanical Engineering Alumni Network of Experts & Scholars (MEANES)

The Mechanical Engineering Alumni Network of Experts and Scholars (MEANES) is an honorary society open to graduates and friends of the MIME Department at the University of Toledo who have made significant accomplishments in their careers.  This includes alumni from our undergraduate and graduate programs in both Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.  Also included are friends who have contributed greatly to the MIME Department.  MEANES will also promote greater interaction among alumni, faculty, and students.

Process

Nomination to MEANES is a two-step process using the online nomination form.

Step 1: The nominator will

    • upload a list of five significant contributions by the nominee
    • upload a copy of the nominee's resumé or CV.

The selection committee will review the five significant contributions and the resumé or CV and contact the nominator within three weeks.  The Selection Committee will either ask the nominator to proceed with step 2 asking for a letter of nomination to be uploaded or suggest whether it would be better not to proceed with the nomination.

Step 2: At the suggestion of the Selection Committee, the nominator will upload a letter of nomination using the online nomination form.

  • The selection committee will review nominations continually during the year.  Nominations not selected for MEANES will remain active for two additional review cycles.
  • The selection committee will contact selected candidates informing them they are being considered for induction.
  • Inductees and current members will be invited to the annual MEANES Awards Ceremony which coincides with the Dr. Theo G. Keith Distinguished Lecture in the fall of each year.

Timeline

Nominations can be made at anytime, but any nominations submitted after September 1 will be reviewed in the following nomination cycle.
