Mr. John D. Ritter

John D. Ritter - 2011 Distinguished Alumnus, Mechanical Engineering, Class of 1989

In May of this year, John D. Ritter was named Vice President & General Manager of the Hybrid Power Systems Division at Eaton Corporation. He is responsible for all aspects of product development, commercialization, and the growth of commercial vehicle and bus hybrid systems worldwide. Working to deliver sustainable impacts to the environment by reducing fuel consumption and harmful emissions.

Ritter joined Eaton Corporation in 1997 via the acquisition. At the time, he had twelve years with the Dana Corporation, having begun his career while an engineering student on a cooperative education assignment. At the time of the acquisition, he was Manager of Research & Development, Spicer Clutch Division.

Ritter had led the manufacturing operations in the Americas for the Hydraulics Power and Motion Controls Division, Fluid Conveyance Division and Controls Division as Director, Manufacturing Operations. Prior to that, he held various roles of increasing responsibility in the areas of engineering and sales. He has served as a plant manager and business unit manager, NAFTA, for the Light- and MediumDuty Transmission Division in Eaton’s Truck Group.

Ritter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio.

John and his wife, Lisa, reside in Galesburg, Michigan. They have three children, Drew, Kelsey and Kyle.
