 Anju Gupta is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at The University of Toledo. Prior to UToledo, Dr. Gupta was an Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department with affiliations in the Institute of Sustainability and Microsystems Engineering  at Rochester Institute of Technology. Dr. Gupta received her B.E. from the University of Mumbai, India, her M.S. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and her Ph.D. from the University of Rhode Island, all in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Gupta has received funding from the National Science Foundation and American Chemical Society, and has been an active member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, North American Thermal Analysis Society,  and the American Society for Engineering Education holding several roles including reviewer, conference session chair, graduate student awards judge and  membership coordinator.

Ph.D. Students

Poornima KalyanramPoornima Kalyanram

Poornima joined the Soft Nanomaterials Laboratory in the Fall of 2017. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Engineering (Healthcare) at Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY. Poornima received her B.Tech from Amrita University, Coimbatore, India and her M.E. from BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, India in Chemical Engineering. Her research expands in the areas of self-assemblies and colloidal systems and biomaterials for drug delivery. A part of her doctoral studies involves the investigation of therapeutic properties of drugs by studying their interactions with cell membrane models. She is proficient with the use of TGA, DSC, FTIR, DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering) and UV-Spectroscopy and is trained to use SEM.  Apart from research, Poornima enjoys music and painting.

Alireza RozatiAlireza Rozati

Alireza is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toledo.  He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran. His research is in two-phase changing heat transfer phenomena to investigate the thermal improvement of Nano-coating surface materials. He is proficient with the use of SEM, TEM, PIV Method, and pool Boiling set-up. Apart from research, Alireza enjoys photography and graphic design.

Aniket RishiAniket Rishi

Aniket joined RIT for his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in Fall 2015. He received his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Pune University in 2015. He joined the Soft Nanomaterials Lab in the Summer of 2016 to pursue his master’s thesis, and also served as an intern design engineer in Thermo Fisher during his Master’s work. Aniket is currently working towards his Ph.D. in Microsystems Engineering. The goal of his work is to study pool boiling on surface-enhanced substrates prepared by electro-deposition techniques. He also works on graphene exfoliation from graphite. He is proficient in the techniques of FTIR, SEM, and XRD.  Aniket enjoys photography, sports and plays soccer, badminton and racquetball.

Master Students

Clement KekessieClement Kekessie

Clement is currently pursuing a master’s in mechanical engineering at the University of Toledo. He received his BSc in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Ghana in 2014, where he worked on extracting natural pigments to be used as potential sensitizers in solar cells. He worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Ghana for two years before proceeding to work as a process control officer for Mass Industries Ltd, Ghana for two years. Clement is currently working on graphene exfoliation from graphite to be deposited on copper substrates. He is proficient in the techniques UV-Spectroscopy, TLC and Spray Pyrolysis. Clement enjoys sports, playing soccer, cycling, working out and playing video games.

Suyash NiraulaSuyash Niraula

Suyash Niraula completed his bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Nepal. His two major projects during his undergraduate study were the design and fabrication of a Mobile Robotic Arm for Pick and Drop Purpose, and Design and Fabrication of CNC Machine for Drilling and Milling Purposes. After completing his undergraduate degree, Suyash worked in the petroleum fuels sector for Nepal Oil Corporation Ltd., a wing of the Nepal government. Suyash's research interests are in machines, engines, industrial applications of mechanical systems, manufacturing, and fabrication.

Bismark OwareBismark Oware

Bismark had his bachelor’s degree in the field of Materials Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi-Ghana. His Major research was on the Effect of Calcine and Uncalcine Oyster Shells on selected properties of Portland limestone Cement. After his undergraduate degree, he worked a year with the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company limited in Kumasi, Ghana. His research interest is in Materials science, Additive Manufacturing, and Mechanics. He is currently working on Metal Foams at the Interfacial Thermal and Transport Laboratory at the University of Toledo.
