Kristen Geaman, Senior Lecturer, is a native of Findlay, Ohio, who completed her undergraduate work at the University of Delaware and her graduate work at the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on infertility in late medieval England, especially how couples coped with their childlessness after spiritual and medical remedies failed. Her teaching interests include medieval Europe (especially medieval England), the medieval Islamic caliphate, women's history, sexuality and gender in the Middle Ages, and early modern Europe.

Her 2022 book "Anne of Bohemia" was recognized by the Royal Studies Journal in association with the University of Winchester Press (UK). It was selected as one of the top three books in Royal Studies published in the last two years. (2022-2024)

The journal recruits a panel of 30 scholars from a variety of disciplines to peer-review recent books in the field of Royal Studies and then chooses three that are considered "prize-worthy." One of the three books receives the Biennial book prize, and the other two books are dubbed "Highly Recommended." The committee deemed "Highly Recommended."

About "Anne of Bohemia"

Geaman's book examines the life of Anne of Bohemia, the first queen of Richard II (1377–1399), and situates her within the context of medieval queenship by arguing that Anne ably fulfilled the political role of the queen consort through her intercession, patronage, and piety.

Much previous scholarship on Anne has focused on her relationship with famous poets, such as Geoffrey Chaucer, but from analyzing government documents it becomes clear that Anne used her wealth and status to enact power.
