Melanie Case, M.M.E.

biography
A native of Stone Mountain, GA, Melanie holds Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education degrees from Indiana University, where she studied trombone with M. Dee Stewart.
Prior to moving to Toledo, she performed in two casts of the Tony and Emmy Award-winning show Blast! in both Orlando, FL and Anaheim, CA. She also played for more than ten years in two British-style brass bands; the Bloomington Brass Band and the Five Lakes Silver Band (formerly Oakland Brass Band). While in Portland, OR for two years she played with the Beaverton Symphony Orchestra.
Melanie currently freelances locally and performs regularly with the Swingmania Big Band. She also sings barbershop as a member of Dynamics Quartet and the Pride of Toledo Chorus.
As a teacher, Melanie has worked with many private students, several local marching bands, and substitute taught at over 30 Toledo schools. She currently teaches band and general music for grades 4-8 at West Side Montessori School, where she also coaches a math team.
Melanie is a member of the International Trombone Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the Ohio Music Education Association.
