Yetunde Akitikori joined The University of Toledo’s Department of Theatre and Film in 2025. She received her M.F.A. in Theatre, Costume Design, from Wayne State University, Detroit, and her B.A. in Performing Arts from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
At UToledo, Yetunde teaches courses that include: Introduction to Theatre, Advanced Costume Construction, Costume Design, Stage Makeup, and Costume Technology, fostering hands-on learning in costume craft and design. She also supervises the costume shop, guiding student workers in constructing costumes for Theatre and Film productions, and designs costumes.
Yetunde’s professional experience includes designing costumes and wigs for productions such as Emilia, Silent Sky, and Cabaret at Wayne State University’s Hilberry Theatre. Yetunde is passionate about visual storytelling; her meticulous research, detailed renderings, and advanced techniques in patterning and draping enhance storytelling through culturally informed designs.
