“Layers” features mixed-media works by Debra A. Davis, a professor emerita, and Barbara Miner, a professor and chair of the Department of Art, and is on exhibit in Carlson Library North Gallery from Tuesday, Jan. 20, through Friday, March 13.

Faculty-Created Artwork on Display in Carlson Library

January 20—March 13, 2026

Two University of Toledo faculty artists will have an exhibition of their work in Carlson Library North Gallery from Tuesday, Jan. 20, through Friday, March 13.

“Layers” features mixed-media works by Deb A. Davis, a professor emerita, and Barbara Miner, a professor and chair of the Department of Art. The artists bring different approaches to their works that share inspiration in the resilience of nature, the practice of meditative observation and scientific processes, human biology and behavior.

The exhibit was featured in the Secor Building in downtown Toledo last year.

Faculty Exhibition 2026

January 12 – February 13, 2026

Please join us to celebrate the outstandingly accomplished creative work produced by the internationally exhibiting faculty in the Department of Art. Paintings, photographs, ceramics, videos and innovative 3D printed sculptural work represent some of the broad areas of research in the department.
 
The reception with refreshments will be held on January 30th from 6-8 and it is free and open to the public.

Call for Entries to Volumes of Influence

Toledo Ceramics at Toledo Museum of Art and The University of Toledo in conjunction with the 2026 NCECA Conference in Detroit.

The University of Toledo Department of Art and the Toledo Museum of Art Education invite alumni and affiliated artists to submit work for Volumes of Influence, a ceramics exhibition celebrating Toledo’s ceramic education legacy in conjunction with the 2026 NCECA Conference in Detroit.

The exhibition runs March 23–28, 2026 at the University of Toledo’s Center for the Visual Arts (620 Art Museum Dr., Toledo, OH), with a closing reception on March 28, 4–5 pm. Eligibility: alumni of the University of Toledo Department of Art and current/former students of the Toledo Museum of Art Ceramics Education Program.

Submission deadline: January 18, 2026. Email images, artwork details, and statement to Amy Sinbondit (amysinbondit@gmail.com).

Department of Art Year-End Exhibition

Friday, December 5, 2025 | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Join the University of Toledo Department of Art for an evening of artistic exploration at 219 Southard Ave., Toledo, OH. The showcase will feature 2D works from Professor Dan Hernandez’s class, a ceramics sale from Lecturer Sorrel Stone’s students, and a capstone exhibition from the Concepts in Art, Studio, and Theory course. The evening concludes with the Wearable Conditions showcase at 6:45 PM, where students transform research on diseases and disorders into wearable art.

Talk - Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2:45 p.m.
CVA Haigh Auditorium (Reception to follow, CVA Main Gallery)

LeJeune explores the relationship between art, science and environmental studies in her photography and photographic-based works. Her exhibition titled “Drawn from Memory: Mapping Salt and Time” explores significant ecological shifts in the landscape of Dare County, North Carolina, mapping changes brought forth over the last four centuries by colonial capitalism, ensuing extraction economies and rising sea levels.

This exhibit is co-sponsored by the UToledo Judith Herb College of Arts, Social Sciences and Education (JHCASE), the Department of Art and the Jesup Scott Honors College.
