Career and Technical Education Certificate Program
The Career–Tech Certificate License program is designed for individuals seeking licensure in a specific career-technical pathway to teach middle and high school students.
- You will learn to translate industry skills into clear, standards-aligned instruction that builds technical competence, prepares students for credentials, and connects learning to workforce expectations.
- You will study how to design purposeful lessons and assess student learning in meaningful ways, including performance-based and lab-based assessments.
- You will learn to create classroom and lab environments where safety, professionalism, and engagement are prioritized, while fostering a culture that mirrors real workplace expectations.
- You will prepare students for what comes next—employment, apprenticeships, or postsecondary education—by embedding employability skills, supporting work-based learning experiences, and helping students earn industry-recognized credentials.
Throughout the program, you will reflect on your teaching, adapt to changes in industry and education, collaborate with colleagues and advisory partners, and commit to ongoing professional growth in both teaching methods and your technical field.
- Applicants must have at least five years of work experience in a career field such as welding, culinary arts, business, engineering, or health sciences, etc.
- The program is hybrid, combining in-person and online (synchronous - live) learning.
- Classes are held in the afternoons and evenings to accomodate your schedule.

Master’s Degree in Career–Tech Education
Advance your career and expand your impact with a Master’s Degree in Career–Tech Education. This flexible program is designed for educators and industry professionals who want to deepen their instructional skills while strengthening their career pathway expertise.
You may pursue your master’s degree as a standalone program or complete it alongside the Career–Tech Licensure Program. Because every student’s background and goals are unique, you’ll work closely with a faculty advisor to design a personalized plan of study based on your experience, prior education, and professional interests.
The 30-credit-hour program includes:
- Core coursework to build a strong foundation in teaching and learning
- Major and/or licensure coursework aligned to your career pathway
- Internship/Practicum experience, where you complete a scholarly, classroom-based project in collaboration with administrators or university faculty
If you choose to pursue both licensure and a master’s degree, up to 24 credit hours from the Career–Tech Licensure Program can be applied toward your master’s. This option must be selected prior to enrollment.

Career-Based Intervention (CBI) Certificate Program (100% Online)
Make a meaningful difference for students who need it most. The Career-Based Intervention (CBI) Certificate Program prepares licensed teachers to support at-risk students in building the skills and confidence needed for success in school and beyond.
Through this fully online program, you will learn how to strengthen students’ academic performance, develop essential employability skills, and guide them in creating realistic, achievable career plans. The program focuses on helping students stay engaged, graduate from high school, and successfully transition into postsecondary education or the workforce.
This certificate is designed for licensed teachers currently employed by a school district and leads to the CBI Endorsement.
