Pediatrics Residency Program

The University of Toledo Pediatric Residency Program brings together dedicated academic and clinical faculty to deliver a comprehensive, competency-based pediatric education. Our program is designed to prepare residents for successful careers in general pediatrics and pediatric subspecialties. We take pride in being a program where our size and culture allow for truly individualized training, ensuring every resident receives the personal support needed to reach their educational goals and meet the complex needs of pediatric patients and their families.

Advocacy is a cornerstone of our culture. From the longitudinal advocacy curriculum introduced during the first year to special events such as our annual Advocacy Day each December, residents are actively engaged in meaningful opportunities to serve and partner with the community. Through these efforts, we remain committed to improving the health and well-being of children and families across Northwest Ohio.

Our strong affiliation with ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital provides residents with exceptional clinical exposure. This partnership ensures access to a wide range of patients, medical conditions, and pediatric subspecialists. Together, we offer a robust training environment grounded in high-quality patient care, diverse clinical experiences, and a supportive atmosphere for scholarly growth and research.

Mission Statement

The University of Toledo Pediatric Residency Program is dedicated to fostering an environment that values our residents, students, faculty, and patients. We are committed to upholding excellence in our core missions of pediatric education, high-quality patient care, and advocacy.

Goal

Our goal is to sustain and continually advance excellence in pediatric education, clinical training, and research. The Pediatrics Residency Program provides a comprehensive foundation across the full spectrum of pediatric care, supported by an academic environment that encourages curiosity, growth, and high‑quality patient care.

Our three‑year curriculum offers structured, progressive learning that brings together a diverse patient population and the mentorship of dedicated, enthusiastic faculty. Their commitment to teaching fosters a supportive environment where residents develop the skills, judgment, and compassion essential to becoming exceptional pediatricians.
