Purpose

The aim of the Scholarly Pathway of Excellence in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence is to equip medical students with essential skills in clinical applications of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), including protected data practices and both foundational and applied knowledge.  Throughout the curriculum, the pathway emphasizes ethical deployment and responsible use of ML/AI.  Foundational ML/AI education will be delivered in the M1 & M2 years with opportunities for applied learning and specialization in the M3 & M4 years.  The pathway aligns with ongoing AI initiatives in the College of Medicine and Life Sciences and across the university to ensure relevance and integration with broader institutional efforts.
