Addressing Campus Vandalism
October 9, 2024

Campus Community,

Early yesterday morning, graffiti and vandalism were discovered across Centennial Mall. This criminal act is unacceptable, does not represent the values of our campus community, and will not be tolerated.

We immediately began efforts to remove the harmful graffiti, however because of the nature of the damage, that work continues.

At UToledo, we support freedom of expression. We do not condone criminal damage or threats of violence.

UToledo Police are investigating this incident as felony vandalism and ethnic intimidation. If you have any information about this incident, report it to campus police immediately. We will seek to hold the person or persons responsible through both the criminal prosecution process as well as the Student Code of Conduct or Standards of Conduct process if they are a UToledo student or employee.

These hateful actions do not reflect the values of our campus community. We have a safe and welcoming campus, and we are a community that respects our differences and values each other.

Your safety and well-being are a top priority, and we are here to support you. Actions that interfere with the functions of the University or actions that endanger the health or safety of members of our community will not be tolerated. Report any incidents of discrimination or harassment at utoledo.edu/report so that we can investigate. Our campus resources are here to help:

  • UToledo Police Department has professionally trained law enforcement officers protecting our campuses 24/7. Always call 9-1-1 in an active emergency. You can also contact UToledo Police through the non-emergency number at 419.530.2600 and choose option #3.
