Nathan Zickes

Nathan Zickes is a junior mechanical engineering student in the College of Engineering at The University of Toledo. On campus, he serves on the executive boards of the Roy and Marcia Arms Engineering Leadership Institute, Camp Kesem, Theta Tau professional co-ed engineering fraternity and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, and is a member of the University of Toledo Triathlon Club.
Zickes was drawn to UToledo in part by the College of Engineering's mandatory co-op program, one of only eight in the nation requiring paid work experience of every engineering student. This year, he completed his first co-op with Owens Corning as a manufacturing engineering intern at the company's Fort Smith, Arkansas, facility, where he helped divert thousands of tons of waste from landfills alongside plant leadership.
A Toledo native, Zickes grew up just down Bancroft Street from Main Campus and attended Saint Francis de Sales High School, where he served as student body president. A proud Rocket, he is the 10th member of his family to attend UToledo, following grandparents, aunts, uncles, his mom and his siblings.
Gov. Mike DeWine appointed Zickes to a two-year term on the UToledo Board of Trustees in July 2026, through July 1, 2028.
