Diane Miller was named chief of staff for The University of Toledo in July 2019, and is also vice president for government relations.

In her role, Diane manages the operational functions of the Office of the President and serves as a liaison to internal and external communities. She is responsible for promoting and advancing the interests and mission of the University by implementing the vision, strategy and goals of the president.

She serves as an adviser to the president and other senior administrators, and oversees projects and initiatives to achieve the University's priorities and objectives.

Miller also directs the University's Office of Government Relations, overseeing the federal relations, state relations, local relations and community engagement activities. She acts as the primary university contact for members of Congress, their staff and the administration.

She also works to advance the University's federal research portfolio, aligning university researcher strength to federal funding opportunities, highlighting activities surrounding renewable energy and the environment, including international outreach, and several special projects.

Until May 2011, she served as director of federal research relations and associate director of the business incubation program where she directed a number of federal projects to enhance incubation infrastructure and economic development services at the University.

Before coming to UToledo in 2007, Miller served as staff to U.S. Senator Mike DeWine for five years; she was district representative for northwest Ohio. Miller was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2008. She received her JD from the University of Toledo College of Law (2008) and a BA in History and Political Science from Grove City College, PA (2001).
