Key Eligibility and Lock Boxes

Master & Sub-Master Key Eligibility and Requirements

Master Keys are the highest level of access within a keying system hierarchy. Master keys will open multiple doors keyed under its system.

Sub-Master Keys are the second highest level of access within a keying system hierarchy. These keys will open multiple doors within its keying “branch” of the key system.

Loss of either of these keys may result in widespread re-keying and/or entry re-coring, for which the key approving index would be responsible for all associated costs and fees.

Due to the levels of access these key types provide, Master Keys and Sub-Master keys are a restricted key, and only granted to eligible employees. All Key Access Level Eligibility can be reviewed below and in our F&C Key Control S.O.P.

Additionally, only four (4) total assignments per index will be allowed for both master keys and sub-master keys. All department index master and sub-master key assignments will be reviewed before any new requests are fulfilled. New requests may be denied if there are too many of these keys assigned or unreturned.
