Ester Antin
(1894-1983)
Ester Antin became a member of the Ohio Bar in 1915 and practiced law in Toledo.
In 1925 she was appointed to the Toledo Municipal Court bench and became the first
woman judge in Lucas County. She was re-elected and remained on the bench until 1933
when she resigned and moved to New York with her husband, poet Louis Untermeyer. Judge
Antin continued a distinguished career as a freelance book editor and international
activist.
