College of Medicine - M.D. Program
The UT College of Medicine participates in the American Medical College Applications Services (AMCAS) program. Applicants must submit their application using the AMCAS electronic application. The processing of preliminary AMCAS applications begins in mid-July and ends November 1.
The MCAT is required unless the student is accepted through our early assurance MEDStart Program. A baccalaureate degree is required prior to matriculation.
Once the AMCAS application is complete, preliminary screening means the applicant will need a competitive academic record in order to receive a secondary application from UT. Applicants not meeting the criteria will be reviewed at the discretion of the admissions committee. With the secondary application, the applicant must provide recommendations and pay a non-refundable fee, and may opt to provide a photograph. No application fee is charged for pre-screening the AMCAS application. The deadline to submit an AMCAS application is November 1.
The Technical Standards that have been developed for admission to the M.D. degree program are available in College of Medicine policy 3364-81-04-005-00.
Applicants must be citizens of the United States or have permanent resident status.
