Earth Surface Processes
Program Description Physical Track Environmental Track Associated Faculty Curricula Courses Research ProjectsEarth Surface Processes: Program Description
The department’s new MS focus in Earth Surface Processes will provide the training and background required for understanding the near subsurface and surface environments. Humankind’s activity is concentrated at the Earth’s surface, where our insatiable quest for resources, and often questionable disposal of waste, creates a myriad of opportunities for geologists. Moreover, an understanding of sediments, landforms and surficial processes is essential for geologists engaged in understanding the physical surface environment; the substrate for the biological environment. This program is intended to provide geologists with the skills required to pursue successful careers in environmental geology, at geological surveys, consulting companies or as preparation for a Doctorate in Geosciences.
