University Academic Program Review Process

 

  1. Self-Study
    The academic department completes a comprehensive self-study evaluating its mission, goals, outcomes, and performance.
  2. External Team Review, Site Visit, and Report
    An external review team conducts an on-site evaluation and provides a formal report of findings.
  3. Program Response and Action Plan
    The program develops a formal action plan in response to recommendations and feedback.
  4. Dean’s Acknowledgement and Response
    The dean acknowledges and responds to the program’s action plan.
  5. University Assessment and Program Review Committee (UAPRC) Review and Summary
    The UAPRC reviews the external report, the program’s response, and the Dean’s response, and develops a summary of the process.
    • Committee membership includes:
      • 14 College liaisons
      • 3 Co-Curricular liaisons
      • 3 Ex officio – Office of the Provost
    • Primary Roles:
      • Summarize the external report, program response/action plan, and Dean’s response for the Provost
      • Review program follow-up and provide feedback as applicable
  6. Provost Meeting with Dean, Program, and UAPRC Chair
    The Provost meets with the Dean, program, and UAPRC Chair to review the UAPRC summary and to agree on action items.
  7. Final Agreement
    The program, Dean, and Provost sign the final agreement documenting the outcomes and next steps of the review process.
  8. Closing the Loop
  • Program Follow-Up on Action Items
    The program regularly reports to the UAPRC on progress toward completing agreed-upon action items.
  • UAPRC Follow-Up
    The UAPRC reviews progress on action items and provides feedback or recommendations for further action.
