Nicole Savastuk

Piano

Nicole is a music education major at the University of Toledo. She started piano lessons at nine years old and has been studying piano with Dr. Michael Boyd at UT since 2017.

During her time in college, Nicole has had many exciting accomplishments. Her favorite memory is performing the Planets on organ with the University of Toledo’s Symphony Orchestra at the Toledo Art Museum’s Peristyle. She has also had the opportunity to be the accompanist for Lake High School, and to perform with UT’s wind ensemble.

Her passion of choral directing has led her to teaching voice and playing keyboard for Songfest competition teams the last four years, coaching teams to first, second, and third place trophies.

Nicole’s biggest passion is for teaching. She now has a piano and voice studio of over 40 students. She has experience teaching all ages and has an interest in teaching students with special needs. Nicole is pursuing a degree in Choral Education, with an expected graduation of December 2021.

Acknowledgements

I would first like to thank my parents, Stephen and Diane Savastuk for their unconditional love and support through this journey. The biggest thanks to Timothy Warring for always being there, and never letting me doubt myself. Thank you to Heidi Claudius for showing me the path I was meant to follow. I am very much grateful to have been the student of the brilliant and talented Dr. Michael Boyd, a gifted and gracious professor whom I will miss as I close this chapter.

I would most definitely not have made it to this day without the following people: Kim Warring and family, Caris Croy and family, and Brent Lander.

Special thanks to Scott Hunt, Dr. Pamela Stover, Professor Robert Ballinger, Dr. Lee Heritage, Dr. Jason Stumbo, and Dr. Timothy Brakel.

Nicole Savastuk is a student of Dr. Michael Boyd. This recital is given in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Bachelor of Music Education degree.
