Dr. Micah Bland
Dr. Micah Bland is Director of Choral Activities and Visiting Assistant Professor
at The University of Toledo, where he directs the Chamber Singers and University Chorus,
and teaches courses in choral music education, conducting, and voice. Dr. Bland received
his Bachelor of Music degree from Abilene Christian University, Master of Music in
Choral Conducting from The University of Texas at San Antonio, and Doctorate of Musical
Arts from University of Southern California.
Prior to his appointment at The University of Toledo, Dr. Bland served as Director of Choirs at Ranger College. Additional appointments include James “Nikki” Rowe High School, the Abilene Opera Association, Gainesville Middle School, and Associate Conductor of the University of Southern California Chamber Singers.
Dr. Bland has actively contributed to the field of music as an author, clinician, and composer with publications in the Choral Journal, Psychology of Music, ChorTeach, and Tactus. As Associate Conductor of the USC Chamber Singers, Dr. Bland’s work can be heard in the ensemble’s latest album, Gregorian Meditations: Choral Works of Forgotten French Masters, released by Centaur Records. He is the founder and host of the ChoralEd video podcast, which is also a monthly blog feature on ACDA’s ChoralNet.org. Most recently, Dr. Bland was appointed the “Student Times” column editor for the Choral Journal effective January 2023.
