Departmental Honors in Anthropology
Honors in Anthropology -- Qualified juniors and seniors may apply to work toward Departmental Honors in Anthropology:
A. Admission
-3.3 minimum GPA in anthropology courses and 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA; 12 hours completed work in anthropology -Qualification as an anthropology major
B. Requirements
A student must complete 9.0 hours of independent work in anthropology. Before graduation, the student must pass a comprehensive examination or submit a completed honors thesis. Additionally, a 3.3 minimum GPA in anthropology courses and 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA must be met. Students should discuss their special interests with faculty members or with the honors advisor, who will help identify an appropriate faculty member to guide the honors work.
Ideally a candidate will start their honors efforts three semesters prior to their expected
graduation date, but this is not a requirement.
