The University of Toledo Department of Music often presents music workshops. Below are the workshops currently available. Check back as this page may change.

JUNE 17-21, 2019


Toledo Symphony flutists Joel Tse and Amy Heritage will lead classes in all aspects of flute playing and performance.  Chamber music, flute repair, piccolo workshop and more!  Included with your fees, guest instructors will lead classes in yoga, drumming, eurhythmics, and music theory. Our sponsor, Robert Johnson from Flute Specialists in Detroit, will be on hand with music and instruments for sale.  

The UT Flute Camp runs Monday through Friday. See the Flute Camp page for track schedules. A free, public concert performed by students concludes the workshop on Friday at 12 p.m.

The 13th annual UToledo Summer Jazz Jam Camp is a weeklong jazz day camp at the University of Toledo Center for Performing Arts (CPA) offering all levels of jazz instruction by master jazz musicians/educators. The camp is open to all people ages 12 and up. This camp was established in 2007 with the mission to provide a positive, all-inclusive camp that teaches America's music, jazz, to anyone who is interested. Young or older, experienced or not, we are dedicated to presenting a positive, nurturing educational environment while providing you with the "real deal" about playing and improvising jazz.

The CPA is located at 1910 W. Rocket Drive, Toledo, OH 43606, on the main campus of the University of Toledo. We may also hold some optional performances in the 31Hundred Club, located in the Radisson at the University of Toledo Health Science Campus, 3100 Glendale Ave, Toledo, OH 43614.

Faculty: Dr. Brad Pierson, Director of Choral Activities

This comprehensive and immersive choral conducting workshop is intended is designed to serve and educate individuals as conductor, teacher, leader, scholar, performer, and servant. Conductors will engage in sessions covering a wide variety of topics. This year's workshop will allow conductors to choose from either a three day immersion workshop, or a one day workshop. Coffee and a light breakfast will be provided in the mornings. Ohio Teachers - this workshop will provide 18 contact hours of professional development.
