The season featured 5 live theatre productions, two film screenings, guest artist visits, the annual Aspiring Filmmakers Showcase - and a special event to honor the department's birthday - 50 YEARS OF WOW! Film Screening of "BRAZIL"
Friday, September 5 at 7:30 p.m. 
A bureaucrat in a retro-future world tries to correct an administrative error and himself becomes an enemy of the state. 143 minutes. R.
Brazil is a 1985 British film directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Gilliam, Charles McKeown, and Tom Stoppard. British National Cinema by Sarah Street describes the film as a "fantasy/satire on bureaucratic society" while John Scalzi's Rough Guide to Sci-Fi Movies describes it as a "dystopian satire". The film stars Jonathan Pryce and features Robert De Niro, Kim Greist, Michael Palin, Katherine Helmond, Bob Hoskins, and Ian Holm.

Guest Filmmaker Residency: SIMON HUBER

International Director of Photography, Simon Huber will join UT faculty and students on October 20, 21, and 22, 2014 to teach master class workshops in motion picture photography, give student critiques, and publicly screen his work with a talkback to follow.
Guest Filmmaker Visit: ERIC DOW

Eric Dow is a Toledo native currently working in New York and Los Angeles. He has recently completed his documentary “Behind the Mask: the Batman Dead End Story.”
Eric will host the Ohio premiere of his project at the Maumee Indoor Theater on Thursday, October 23 at 7 p.m. Earlier in the day, (from 12:30-2pm at UT in the CPA), Eric will speak to interested students about his career as an independent filmmaker. Joining Eric will be the subject of his documentary, indie director and producer Sandy Collora and Steve Long, a UTFV alum.

Written by Elmer Rice and directed by Irene Alby, THE ADDING MACHINE follows the story of an ordinary accountant who murders his boss upon learning he will be replaced at work by an adding machine. After he is sentenced and executed for murder, he finds his afterlife to be a most unexpected experience. Funny, sad, poignant and startling, this expressionist, metaphorical play will be a visually rich contemplation on right and wrong, life and death.

Written by August Strindberg, with a new translation from UT Theatre & Film faculty member Daniel Thobias and directed by Cornel Gabara. A naturalistic play, it depicts both gender and class struggle in the person of Miss Julie, who longs to escape the stifling structure of her Victorian lifestyle and begins a dangerous flirtation with one of her father’s servants - one that could cost her more than her status.

TICKETS to weekday matinee performances are $7 each. RSVP for your group one month prior to the matinee date and each ticket is just $5 each!
You can always adjust the number of attendees prior to the performance without hurting your per ticket discount. So register early! One payment for the group (either by check or credit card) is due by the date of the performance.
SCHOOL GROUPS If you are a teacher please consider bringing your students to see a play. A live performance can be a powerful way to augment the learning experiences you provide in the classroom. Matinees are conveniently scheduled at 9:30 a.m. and are usually about two hours, allowing students to return to school in time for lunch or students can eat lunch at one of many locations on campus. After each performance we also bring out the cast and designers so your students can ask questions about how the play was presented and learn what goes into to putting on a live performance. Matinee performances are suitable for high school age students. If there are any questions or concerns about content please contact Angela Riddel for clarification.
COMMUNITY GROUPS Looking for a great activity for your group that takes place during the day? Consider bringing your group to a weekday daytime matinee.
