2016-2017 Theatre & Film Season
During the 2016-2017 Season the University of Toledo Department of Theatre & Film featured 4 live theatre productions, guest artist visits, and the annual Student Filmmakers Showcase. This year the department also brought back its annual Fridays on Film Series, a series of 16mm feature films.

THE ANNUAL 24 HOUR PLAY FESTIVAL
January 27-28, 2017
Performance of the plays - Saturday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m.
The 24 Hour Plays is collaborative event that takes place in a 1 day-period. Multiple
groups work toward a common goal - creating a short, devised play to present. Every group member has the choice of being a playwright,
director, or actor. You can even choose to do all three! There is also a technical
side to the event, like any theatre production. So you can work there if you like. Each
group will be given a random mix of props, a line, and a genre.
Must be 18 years or older to participate.

Two comedic performers make the mistake of insulting the king, a crime punishable by death. When they are given a chance at a reprieve IF they can make the king laugh, they are drawn into a royal drama within his court and find themselves pitted against each other.

Lowell, an American on a business trip, is met at the airport by a beautiful colleague.
They spend the night together and he thinks he's in one of those great American movies
where you go to a foreign land and there's romance and adventure and the experience
changes you. The next day at the office he discovers that he's not in one of those
movies, he's in one of those foreign films where nothing is as it seems, where there
is no moral, and most importantly: no subtitles.
