Get Active with your CAL Alumni Affiliate!

The UToledo College of Arts and Letters Alumni Affiliate is your link to your alma mater. As an extension of The University of Toledo Alumni Association, the affiliate encourages Rocket Pride and unity among graduates. If you're a CAL alumnus, you are already a member of the CAL Alumni Affiliate! Consider being part of the affiliate's board.

Board member volunteers of the CAL Alumni Affiliate create programming, including networking events and educational opportunities, and social activities for CAL alumni. The board also keeps you informed about your college, the University, campus activities and events, current students and fellow alumni. Get active with the CAL alumni affiliate as a board member.

The CAL Alumni Affiliate Executive Board

Executive Board Roles

For our affiliate to be a well-organized, active organization, we need qualified individuals in leadership positions. The Executive Board consists of, but is not limited to, President, President-elect or Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Past President. Here are the responsibilities for each role.

President

  • presides over all committees
  • arranges a minimum of 4 meetings per calendar year
  • serves as liaison with the Office of Alumni Engagement
  • coordinates annual calendar of events and oversees affiliate events

President-elect or Vice President

  • serves as successor to the President
  • assists in the recruitment and selection of key volunteers
  • serves as chairperson on scholarship committee(s)
  • advises all other committees

Secretary

  • takes and submits minutes from each affiliate group meeting
  • maintains and updates affiliate alumni roster

Treasurer

  • maintains financial accountability of affiliate dues and expenses
  • work with scholarship chairperson regarding fundraising and selection process of scholarships
  • prepare an annual program budget

Past President

  • supports and advises the affiliate
  • oversees and advises all committees

Commitment

Meetings of the Alumni Affiliate Board

  1. The alumni board shall meet a minimum of four (4) times a year. Special meetings may be called by the President or at the request of a majority of the Executive Committee.
  2. All members are expected to attend alumni affiliate special events, including but not limited to: homecoming, graduation receptions, and fundraising activities.
  3. At any affiliate board meeting, a majority of the board shall constitute a quorum.

Nominations and Elections

  1. Each March, the Past-President shall appoint a Nominating Committee consisting of members of the Affiliate.
  2. The slate of Executive Board Members and affiliate board members shall be recommended as the April meeting and approved by a majority of the affiliate members.
  3. Executive Board Members and affiliate board members shall take office at the July meeting.
  4. Any vacancy shall be filled by the President as approved by the SC.
