2026 Playing Sample Information
Below you will find all the information regarding playing samples for the 2026 edition of the University of Toledo Rocket Marching Band. Read all information carefully, and make sure you complete the process in full. Accommodations can be made for instrument or technology access issues by contacting andrew.rhodes@utoledo.edu
NOTE: The process for percussionists differs from that of the winds. If you are looking for percussion audition information, click here.
For all woodwind and brass players, the playing sample procedure is as follows:
- Intent to March
- Complete the online "Intent to March" form here.
- Playing Sample
- Complete your playing sample via video submission.
- Sample submission is open and accepted through August 20, 2026. Early submissions are strongly encouraged.
- Training Camp
- August 21-30, Required for all members
Please read and download the woodwind and brass music requirements listed below on this page, and then click the appropriate box at the bottom of the page to begin your playing sample process.
MUSIC REQUIREMENTS FOR WOODWINDS AND BRASS
All playing samples for woodwind and brass of the Rocket Marching Band will be completed by video submission. The sample consists of the following provided criteria:
- A short introduction of yourself
- 3 Major Scales – Concert C, F, & Bb (two-octaves encouraged)
- Required "Lyrical" excerpt
- Required "Technical" excerpt
- Required "Fair Toledo" excerpt (one time through)
- **Optional: Any other musical excerpt which demonstrates musicianship (Ex. honor band audition example, excerpt from solo contest, etc.)

Note: If you want to be considered for more than one instrument, this process must be completed for each instrument. Contact the Rocket Marching Band with any questions regarding consideration on two instruments.
