M.B.A. Majors

Every M.B.A. student must complete a minimum of three electives at the 6000 level. You can select any combination of the electives from the lists below and earn your M.B.A. in Administration, or you can specialize in another area by taking the required electives outlines for that particular major. Your major will be denoted on your official transcript; it is possible to have up to two majors listed. Your major will not appear on your diploma. One course may double count in two majors if approved by the appropriate department. In addition, only one independent study course may count per major.


Administration (Available 100% Online)

Choose any three M.B.A. 6000 level electives from any major listed below excluding Public Health Management. 


Finance (AVAILABLE 100% ONLINE) 

FINA 5310 Financial Systems is a prerequisite to all FINA 6000 level courses. BUAD 6200 is the prerequisite for FINA 6130.

Human Resource Management (AVAILABLE 100% ONLINE)

The Human Resource Management major is designed both for students who intend to seek or continue managerial careers in human resources, and for those who are seeking more general leadership positions, but need to understand approaches to attracting, retaining, compensating, motivating and managing employees in contemporary organizations. 

Students are required to successfully complete HURM 6700 or its equivalent, by completing either an undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management from an AACSB-accredited school, or by certification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (e.g. PHR, SPHR). Students majoring in Human Resource Management must complete all of the following courses.

  • HURM 6700 Human Resource Management*
  • HURM 6720 Advanced Negotiation & Conflict Management 
  • HURM 6730 Performance Management 
  • HURM 6750 Current Topics in Human Resource Managment

*Student with HURM backround, a substitue 6000 level course will be given based on department chair approval.

The Leadership major provides students with the background necessary to motivate and inspire employees to work towards a common goal, plan for the future and focus on organizational goals, evaluate and counsel individual and group performance, manage and resolve conflicts, and improve oral and written communication. Students majoring in Leadership must complete all of the following courses.

Operations and Supply Chain Management

Public Health Management (AVAILABLE 100% ONLINE)

The Public Health Management major is designed for students who intend to seek or continue managerial careers in
healthcare administration. Students are not able to apply any of these courses towards the MBA Administration major.

Students majoring in Public Health Management must complete all of the following courses.
