Mission:

It is the mission of Health Information Management Department to improve the human condition by embracing cutting edge technology thus enabling the department to maintain and provide complete, timely and accurate patient records to support optimal patient care, research, education and reimbursement.

Description of Department:

The Health Information Management Department maintains and supplies medical record information for the provision of quality patient care. The department also protects the confidentiality of patient care information. The department assists healthcare providers in assuring the completeness and timeliness of patient information through concurrent and retrospective reviews. In addition, the department furnishes coded healthcare data that is used for billing, research, and other types of analysis to improve patient care outcomes. The services provided include the document imaging, filing and retrieval of patient information, transcription of dictated patient reports, effective electronic data integrity data management, coding and abstracting of patient information, clinical documentation improvement program, record completion activities supporting the medical staff, and provision of release of information to requesters.

Department Integration:

The Health Information Management Department assists and facilitates in the communication and transfer of information among care professionals through provision of paper and electronic health information. This collaboration and coordination of services promotes a safe, seamless and effective patient care process.
