Anti-Racism Teach-Ins

Introduction

Citizens across the nation and world responded to the killing of George Floyd on May 25, 2020. In Toledo, faculty and Ph.D. students from SPFE joined with others across the university to create Anti-Racism Teach-Ins.

Rooted in the 1950s and ‘60s civil rights and Vietnam war protests, a teach-in is simply an activity intended to share knowledge and generate energy toward confronting the important political issue of white supremacy that penetrates all levels of schooling in the US: P-12 and higher education.

The teach-ins provide a safe, expertly facilitated environment, especially intended for teachers, administrators, students, and community members, where we will explore white supremacy and expand their anti-racism knowledge and tools for recognizing and addressing it.
