Civil and Environmental Engineering Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, www.abet.org/. The degree program provides students with a broad understanding of civil engineering with a focus on four areas: environmental, geotechnical, structural, and transportation. In addition, our program provides an emphasis on civil engineering design and sustainability principles. The program is designed to offer students opportunities to prepare for careers in a rapidly-changing profession, whether they choose after graduation to enter industry, business, consulting, or government. Students are also prepared for graduate work in various programs.

Civil Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program at The University of Toledo had an enrollment of 192 students at the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester.  There were 43 Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degrees award during the 2020 academic year (Summer 2019 – Spring 2020).

 Program Educational Objectives

To satisfy the needs of our constituencies, we have defined educational objectives for the Civil Engineering (CE) program. Program educational objectives (PEOs) are statements that describe what is expected of graduates during the first few years after graduation. The following PEOs have been identified:

  1. Graduates, who wish to pursue professional employment, will obtain a position in CE or related engineering field, and will be successful in that position.
  2. Graduates will demonstrate continuing professional development.
  3. Graduates, who wish to pursue further study, will be successful.

 Environmental Engineering

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering program at The University of Toledo had an enrollment of 78 students at the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester.  There were 8 Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering degrees award during the 2020 academic year (Summer 2019 – Spring 2020).

Program Educational Objectives

To satisfy the needs of our constituencies, we have defined educational objectives for the Environmental Engineering (EnvE) program. Program educational objectives (PEOs) are statements that describe what is expected of graduates during the first few years after graduation. The following PEOs have been established for our EnvE Program:

Objective 1: Graduates will have an understanding of the social, ethical, historical, environmental, economic and global ramifications of their work as demonstrated by (i) membership in professional organizations; (ii) community service; and/or (iii) commitment to life-long learning.

Objective 2: Graduates will successfully apply their knowledge and quantitative skills to (i) entry-level professional employment and/or graduate school; (ii) planning, design, management, construction or operation of environmental engineering projects; (iii) successful advancement in position classification; (iv) progress toward professional licensure; (v) earning graduate degrees and/or other professional certificates.
