Civil and Environmental Engineering Accreditation
Civil Engineering
The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Civil and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
Student Outcomes
Graduates of the program will have the ability to:
- an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
- an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
- an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
Program Education Objectives (PEOs)
The program educational objectives of the Civil Engineering program will result in graduates that will:
- Graduates, who wish to pursue professional employment, will obtain a position in CE or related engineering field, and will be successful in that position.
- Graduates will demonstrate continuing professional development.
- Graduates, who wish to pursue further study, will be successful.

Program Educational Objectives
To satisfy the needs of our constituencies, we have defined educational objectives for the Environmental Engineering (EnvE) program. Program educational objectives (PEOs) are statements that describe what is expected of graduates during the first few years after graduation. The following PEOs have been established for our EnvE Program:
Objective 1: Graduates will have an understanding of the social, ethical, historical, environmental,
economic and global ramifications of their work as demonstrated by (i) membership
in professional organizations; (ii) community service; and/or (iii) commitment to
life-long learning.
Objective 2: Graduates will successfully apply their knowledge and quantitative skills to (i)
entry-level professional employment and/or graduate school; (ii) planning, design,
management, construction or operation of environmental engineering projects; (iii)
successful advancement in position classification; (iv) progress toward professional
licensure; (v) earning graduate degrees and/or other professional certificates.
