NextGen MedTech: Explore Bioengineering Careers in Medicine

Step into the world where engineering innovation meets medicine. During this event, you will learn about bioengineering careers, see some of the tools and techniques used in modern healthcare, and learn how bioengineers help design them. Meet real bioengineers, explore career paths, and see how your curiosity could lead to life-changing breakthroughs.
What to expect
During this campus visit event:
- Tour simulation labs in the Lloyd A. Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center
- Meet bioengineering faculty and students, learn about their design and co-op experience
- Learn how bioengineers work with physicians to improve healthcare and design medical instrumentation and tools
- Meet and talk to our faculty and students over lunch

9:30 a.m. — Check-in
Location: Lloyd A. Jacobs Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center, UToledo Health
Science Campus
10 a.m. — Welcome and Bioengineering Careers Overview
Short presentation about the bioengineering career field and UToledo program highlights.
10:45 a.m. — Simulation lab tours (rotating groups) / Q&A
Meet department faculty and see demos on laparoscopy, intubation, and ultrasound from
an engineering perspective
12:15 p.m. — Lunch and Co-op Panel
Enjoy lunch and hear from current bioengineering students who have completed industry,
research and clinical immersion co-operative education experiences
1 p.m. – Bioengineering Program ends
Registration
- Who: High school students interested in bioengineering, grades 10-12. Students under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

- Recommended parking: Lot 43. There will be no parking charge in Lot 43 for this event, but you must register your car at check-in.
