Discover the Power of Collaboration: Interprofessional Education (IPE)
The University of Toledo’s College of Health and Human Services, home to the School of Nursing, students don’t just learn in the classroom. They learn from each other through our innovative Interprofessional Education (IPE) program.
Modern healthcare is a team effort. No single profession can meet the complex needs of today’s patients alone. That’s why IPE brings together students from nursing, social work, respiratory therapy, speech language pathology and other healthcare disciplines to develop the skills and mindset essential for effective healthcare teamwork simulation scenarios.
Through IPE, you’ll gain:
- A deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of other healthcare professions
- Firsthand experience in team-based care and quality improvement initiatives
- Practical knowledge of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) Core Competencies, which emphasize communication, collaboration, ethics and shared decision-making
By participating in IPE, you’ll be better prepared to improve patient outcomes, enhance the quality of care, and contribute to a more effective healthcare system.
At UToledo, your education goes beyond the classroom.
