Office Moves

For any University employee, office area, or department planning to move computer equipment, the following list provides items that require planning to ensure a timely and successful move.

  • Moving Computer Equipment within a building: For computer related equipment moves within a building, and for computer set-up requests, please submit a Help Desk request at ITHelp.UToledo.edu and provide the following information:
    • Contact name and phone number of the person coordinating the moves or the equipment owner
    • Current equipment location (building and room)
    • New equipment location (building and room)
    • What equipment needs to be moved and set up
      • Service Tag number of the equipment (Example: Laptops, Docking Station, Monitors, and Desktops, etc.)
      • Telephone (including phone number and MAC address, located on the bottom of the phone)
        • Submit a Help Desk request to Telecommunications to update the phone location (include phone number and MAC address)
      • Desktop Printer (ComDoc/Xerox)
        • Submit a Help Desk request to ComDoc MC Printer or ComDoc HSC printer (Include the ComDoc ID number, current location, and new location)
  • Moving Computer Equipment to a different Building: The department is responsible for contacting a moving company to move equipment. Requests can be scheduled at https://www.utoledo.edu/depts/supplychain/purchasing/preferred_suppliers/movingservicescampus.html
    • An IT ticket is required to disassemble the equipment in its current location and setup equipment after it has been moved to the new location. The ticket should include:
      • Contact name and phone number of the person coordinating the moves or the equipment owner
      • Current equipment location (building and room)
      • New equipment location (building and room)
      • What equipment needs to be moved and set up
        • Service Tag number of the equipment (Example: Laptops, Docking Station, Monitors, and Desktops, etc.)
        • Telephone (including phone number and MAC address, located on the bottom of the phone)
          • Submit a Help Desk a request to Telecommunications to update the phone location (include phone number and MAC address

      • Date service is required for the new location
  • Phone Moves: For phone/fax line moves, please submit a Help Desk request to Telecommunication at ITHelp.UToledo.edu this is important related to E911 location reporting and Pinnacle. Please provide the following information in the Help Desk ticket:
    • Employee/Department name
    • Telephone number (419-530-xxx or 419-383-xxxx) for office number or fax line
    • Current location (building and room)
    • New location (building and room)
    • Date service is required for the new location
