Accreditation - Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation
The University of Toledo is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Initial and advanced-level educator preparation programs in the Judith Herb College of Art, Social Sciences and Education are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Programs seeking national CAEP accreditation are reviewed on five nationally recognized standards developed to ensure excellence. The college renewed national CAEP accreditation for their initial and advanced programs in 2023 and will be up for review in 2030.
CAEP Accountability Measures
CAEP has annual reporting measures used to share public information on program outcomes and impact. See below for the CAEP Accountability Measures.
Measure 1: completer effectiveness and impact on p-12 learning and development

Measure 2: satisfaction of employers and stakeholder involvement
Data and information on the satisfaction of employers and stakeholder involvement (directly aligned with CAEP R4.2).
Measure 3: candidate competency at program completion
Data and information on candidate competency at completion (directly aligned with CAEP R3.3 and RA3.4).
Measure 4: ability of completers to be hired in education positions for which they have been prepared
Data and information related to completers’ employment in teaching positions for which they were prepared.

Approved Programs to be Included in 2030 CAEP Review
During the spring 2025 semester, the college received state approved and program alignment with Ohio standards and requirements for new dual-licensure programs. Because they were state approved after the 2023 CAEP review, these programs are not yet CAEP approved. They will be included in the next review cycle in 2030. These programs include:
