Palmer Global Fellows

The Palmer Global Fellows program delivers transformational education. In addition to the excitement of international travel, you become a member of a tight-knit group of students who receive individualized support and mentorship from faculty to advance their success.

First-year students with declared majors in the Judith Herb College of Arts, Social Sciences and Education are eligible to receive a free passport and apply for this competitive, four-year program focused on international travel.

Palmer Global Fellows covers the cost of two study abroad experiences for its fellows. The first is a faculty-led excursion at the end of their freshman year, while the second follows a more personalized itinerary that fellows propose during their junior year.

Meet Tatum Hartford

“Palmer Global Fellows has totally changed the trajectory of my college experience. I’ve done a lot of incredible things at UToledo, but I wouldn’t have been able to do them without the support that I’ve had through this program.”

Meet Emma Meier

‘26, Law and Social Thought, Communication

“For my Palmer Global Fellows third-year project, I wanted to focus on government, politics, and the legal systems of Scotland and the UK, and Edinburgh was a great place to do so. I visited a variety of government buildings, such as the Edinburgh City Chambers, Scottish Supreme Courts, Scottish Government Building, and the Faculty Advocate Buildings. I am so grateful for Toledo and the Palmers for giving me the opportunity to have this amazing trip and experiences.”
