Master's Project
One of the requirements for the Economics M.A. degree and graduate certificate is
to complete a master's project (a master's paper or a master's thesis) and register
for ECON 6950 (a 0-credit capstone project for graduate students).
After choosing a general topic for your project, contact an economics faculty member and request that they advise you. Make sure to ask the faculty member whether their graduate faculty membership allows them to serve on graduate project committee (to chair or to serve). This faculty member will be the instructor of record for your ECON 6950 course.
Once you’ve secured an agreement from a faculty member to be your advisor, notify
the economics graduate director. The graduate director will then contact the department’s
administrative assistant to request that a section of ECON 6950 be created for you.
You will also need to ask another faculty member to be a reader for your graduate
project; both your advisor and reader will have to sign off on your GRAD form.
