Scholarly Pathway: Humanities

Purpose
The aim of the Scholarly Pathway of Excellence in Humanities is to enhance the education, practice, and well-being of medical students through deeper integrative experiences with the arts and humanities. Students will learn about humanistic values, principles, and skills that lead to meaningful connections with patients through greater understanding of the human experience of illness, suffering, and healing. Beyond didactic learning, the humanities pathway employs a variety of art forms including literature, poetry, theater, performing arts and visual arts to nurture the emotional and intellectual capacity of medical students and foster empathy, compassion, and self-awareness.
