Faculty Retirement Process
Step 1. Faculty member decides to retire
Step 2. Faculty member notifies STRS and completes paperwork https://www.strsoh.org or Notifies ARP provider
Step 3. Faculty member submits letter indicating their intent to retire including anticipated last day worked to Department Chair/Supervisor and Dean
Step 4. Chair/Supervisor sends retirement letter to Provost and Dean who respond acknowledging the retirement
Step 5. Business Manager submits separation in UToledo system**
Step 6. Faculty member works with Chair to complete separation checklists
**Note: STRS must notify UToledo Payroll before a separation can be submitted. STRS notifications are not sent more than 60 days before the retirement date. Once separation is submitted, UToledo Benefits is notified.
