Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

Course Design Institute

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Course Design Institute (CDI), being held in person May 6-10th.

The CDI’s sessions will be highly interactive and faculty will spend time developing course elements and materials for their specific courses. For this reason, participants must be able to attend all sessions.

The primary goal of the CDI is to guide and support faculty through the integration of the best evidence-based practices in teaching and evaluation to ultimately improve students’ success and retention. If you are developing a new course or just want to revise or rework an existing course, this opportunity may be for you!

The CDI is a one-week intensive workshop in which faculty will work directly with facilitators who will provide participants with the tools, time, and support they need to build, or rebuild, effective, student-centered courses.

During the CDI sessions, faculty will:

Employ innovative, evidence-based practices that increase degree attainment by creating equitable learning environments.

  • Define course goals and student learning outcomes:
    •  What do students need to know and/or care about in this course?
    • What do students need to be able to do upon successful completion of the course?
  • Design specific assignments and assessment tools that align with course goals and objectives

Upon completion, participants will receive $500 in extra compensation and a certificate of completion.

Applications will be accepted until April 12, 2024.
