Shimadzu Logo

The Shimadzu Laboratory for Pharmaceutical Research Excellence is a state-of-the-art research laboratory created with Shimadzu Scientific Instruments. Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is a global leader in analytical technologies, with instruments made in the USA.

The relationship between The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Shimadzu Scientific Instruments began in 2014, when Dr. Amanda Bryant-Friedrich was awarded an equipment grant from Shimadzu Scientific Instruments to support her work in the study of oxidative stress and nucleic acid damage. That introduction grew into a partnership between the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Shimadzu.

Among the laboratory’s instrumentation is a liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer that can analyze biological and environmental samples quickly and with great accuracy, facilitating research on drug discovery, disease biomarkers, metabolism and oxidative damage to DNA.

Directed and supported by experts in pharmaceutical research, The Shimadzu Laboratory for Pharmaceutical Research Excellence is accessible to students, faculty and members of the corporate sector.
