Dr. Foote’s areas of research interest stem from a passion for improving health literacy, access to care, and advocacy for underserved populations with an emphasis on chronic disease state management and ambulatory clinical pharmacy practice.

Scope of Practice
Dr. David Foote practices within the University of Toledo Family Medicine primary care clinics, providing team-based outpatient care in an academic medical setting. His referral-based practice focuses on chronic disease management, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, chronic respiratory conditions, smoking cessation, and polypharmacy. He also has clinical experience in managing Hepatitis C and providing HIV PrEP services in the primary care environment.
In addition to direct patient care, Dr. Foote supports clinic providers, trainees, and patients through comprehensive medication reviews, deprescribing efforts, and patient education. His work contributes to improved clinical outcomes and supports UTMC value-based care initiatives.
